School Tours

School tours at Abbey Community College play a vital role in enriching the student experience, complementing the curriculum while strengthening our vibrant and inclusive school culture. These carefully planned trips provide opportunities for experiential learning, allowing students to connect classroom knowledge with real-world contexts, whether through historical and geographical exploration, cultural immersion, or personal development activities. Recreational outings also help to build positive relationships, reward effort, and enhance student wellbeing.

Examples of tours this year include:

  • 1st Year Trip to Emerald Park
  • 2nd Year Overnight History and Geography Trip to Wexford and Wicklow
  • 2nd Year Overnight Trip to Manchester (Premier League Soccer Match)
  • 3rd Year Trip to Emerald Park
  • Transition Year Overnight Trip to Delphi Adventure Centre
  • Transition Year Foreign Tour to Italy
  • 5th Year Foreign Tour to Paris, France
  • 6th Year Trip to Emerald Park

In addition to these larger tours, many educational day trips take place throughout the year, where possible, bringing the classroom to life and ensuring strong links between the curriculum and students’ immediate surroundings.

Central to the success of all these experiences is the commitment and dedication of our staff, who generously give their time and expertise to organise, supervise and facilitate each trip. Their enthusiasm, careful planning and genuine care for students ensure that every outing is safe, meaningful and memorable, contributing significantly to the strong sense of community and positive atmosphere that defines Abbey Community College.
