The POD is a special educational unit linked to Abbey Community College. The POD has two Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) classes and one Moderate General Learning Disability Class.
The students attending the POD aim to achieve Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate level. Some students aim to achieve Level 2 Learning Programmes (L2LP) along with sitting some Junior Certificate / Cycle and Leaving Certificate subjects.
The Level 2 Learning Programmes (L2LPs) and qualification are targeted at a very specific group of students who have general learning disabilities in the higher functioning moderate and low functioning mild categories. The L2LP consists of five Priority Learning Units (PLUs).

The POD is a purpose built facility with two teaching classrooms, a sensory room, kitchen, social area and games room.
