School Trips

Every year a group of Fifth Year students travel abroad at the start of the Easter holidays for the annual school trip. The trip is generally of 4 nights and 3 days to one of the major European cities and costs in the region of €500. Accompanied by staff, the students have travelled to a range of destinations over the years including Barcelona, Madrid, Berlin, Paris, Lake Garda, Venice and Verona. Every year the students avail of the best attractions the various cities have to offer, seeing the most beautiful landmarks, visiting educational and cultural facilities and having the time of their lives. When it comes to writing their entry for the end of school yearbook, students always mention the school tour as one of the highlights of their secondary school life. The 2019 school tour will travel to Italy.

However, the Fifth Year school tour is not the only trip that we offer here at Abbey Community College. As part of the Transition Year programme the students take part in many fantastic cultural trips and sporting activities, culminating in the Transition Year Gaisce over-night trip, which in the past has gone to Newgrange and the Wicklow mountains.

Art trips to Newgrange and to the galleries in Dublin are organised on a yearly basis. Geography field trips take place each year. The History department visit local and national attractions. Business students visit local enterprises. Teachers of English, Irish and MFL bring their students to the theatre and of course the Guidance teachers take their students to various colleges around the country for their Open Days.
